UYMG Day 1

Posted in Stephen Pierce UYMG at 6:25 pm by tweak-me

What a great day! I just completed my first homework assignment for today.

First day was about understanding our brains, and some teasers for the things that will follow. The first assignment for today was doing market research, getting a topic, and finding 3 products for the chosen topic at clickbank. Stephen promised that we would work on marketing these products through the course of the program.

So part 1 sounds easy?? It was not for me!

Even after getting the technical part of registering for accounts were done, you really have to use your brain for the creation of opportunities from the material you have. Do you have any problems with the technical parts? If you do, drop me a comment, and I will try to record it into a short clip for you.

In order for me to get started, I required 3 things. Stephen mentioned 2 of them :-
1. Topic (Keywords)
2. Ready Products (Affiliate Products)

For me, I wanted to be ready for next step. I wanted to think of scaleability.
3. Information

So what did I do?

1. Perform marketing research to find some topics that I suspect will have products readily available.
For this, you have to put a little imaginiation in. What are the people really searching for when they type certain phrases?
For example, when someone searches for Paris Hilton… what are they looking for? A novel by Paris Hilton? I think not.
Primarily, the site I go to is www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html

Narrow down to 3-5 topics.

2. Search for the products at clickbank.com.
3. Filter out some of the topics which I do not find and products for.
Left with 1-3 topics.
4. Perform a search at overture for a list of phrases that were searched with chosen keywords.
5. Go to google.com, search through some of the phrases to get an understanding of competition and the products they have.
Also watch for adsense. How many ads are shown for those phrases?

I am greedy, so I look for those with 3 or less ads.
6. Check if I have information on these topics already. (In this particular case, I was looking at the free articles that Stephen provided to us at the beginning of the program.)
This last part is to ensure that I have enough information to form the meat of my page, or my autoresponder campaign.

Stephen Pierce Prework 2

Posted in Stephen Pierce UYMG at 4:05 pm by tweak-me

Just completed the prework that comes with the seminar. There were some further updates, with a zipped file of Wordpress + plugins to download.

Phew… quite a bit to complete. Tried to unzip on a subdomain of a domain I already own. (Trying to cut cost first.) But that didn’t work. I don’t understand php enough to figure out what went wrong with the codes, so I signed up for another domain with godaddy, and bluehost for webhosting again. Argh! It still does not work!

It’s so far been a very interesting ride. Collecting information… collecting information. I will eventually get there! Then I will begin sharing what I have learnt! So you have to be very patient with me.

Up next… UYMG Day 1.

See ya tomorrow!

Stephen Pierce Pre Work 1

How exciting!

In a couple of days time, I will be going for Unleash Your Marketing Genius (UYMG) by Stephen Pierce!

I have received a pre-work package with a list of homework to do. Pretty basic steps at the beginning, find a product, register a domain, host a domain, etc…

Since I do not know how much we receive from Stephen Pierce is meant to be kept to the participants of the seminar only. I will not be sharing the links and the material I get from them directly. If you are from the seminar, and you need some help, howdy buddy. Drop me an email, and I will try to help out where I can.

Looking at the stuff we have in the pdf, I am happy in a way because it is precisely all the things that I do not want to learn AT the seminar itself, because these are basic stuff. In fact, these are the things that I have been working on for a while. But I am a little disappointed in the organisation of materials so far. The pdf files and the links do not seem to tally.

The first link on the pdf points to a online video teaching a tutorial step 1. On the pdf, it is placed under Register a Domain, but on the page, the video teaches you how to find your first product. Very strange… The actual video tutorial that teaches registering of a domain is actually found on step 2.

There also seems to be some problem with the flash videos at that site. A little laggy even though judging from the progress bar, the whole video should have been downloaded.

Anyway, I will strive to follow the basic steps. From what I gather, the organizers want all the participants to :-
1) Using goodkeywords(gkw), do a simple keyword search to find a strong niche market.
http://goodkeywords.com/download/
2) Look for a niche product to market from their list of niches. (Handpicked by Pierce himself, what criteria I do not know yet…)
Link provided, which I will not share here. Instead, you can go to www.clickbank.com to find something that is in line with your research results from Step 1.
3) Register a domain name.
4) Get a host, and host that domain.

Also, from what I gather, the organizers will probably introduce all the other tools that will be necessary, like myspace, blogger, ebay, paypal. I see YouTube. Interesting… this is the niche that I will be focusing on for my own product, so that’s pretty cool.

OK. Now to see what they will do for all these areas. Though basic, every step requires a fair bit of work in order to be more efficient. For example, for Step 1, there are lots of other tools that provide so much more analysis. For example, an analysis of competition existing in the market you want to be a part of.
